New anti phishing tool now in use | Core Services - Gustavus ...

[Core Services] Earlier this week we started using a new tool to fight against phishing email. A group of higher ed email administrators has put together a list of email addresses used for phishing. As new addresses are discovered, they are added to the list. We have modified our email server to quarantine any email sent to a Gustavus account that comes from or has a reply-to containing any of the email addresses on that list.

What's new on the security front with Windows 7?

[WindowSecurity.com] BitLocker drive encryption, parental controls, built-in anti-malware (Windows Defender), improvements to the Windows firewall, Data Prevention Execution (DEP), protected mode IE, service hardening , new digital rights management features, an update to the Crypto API, Network Access Protection (NAP) client, and improvements to the Encrypting File System (EFS), software restriction policies and numerous other security enhancements were introduced in Vista. Service Pack 1 added more security-related improvements, including multifactor authentication for BitLocker, a redesigned Random Number Generator (RNG), signing of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) files, and more.

7th suspect arrested in identity-theft case

[mySA.com Local news] Christopher Ralph Dilday, 35, was indicted in connection with 17,000 credit card receipts that were stolen from three San Antonio hotels. Some of the numbers on the receipts were used to make fraudulent credit cards or gift cards.
