Global Security Watch > Microsoft, HP Collaborate on Orwellian National ID Program
[ 8 Ways to Sunday] It appears from HP’s press release that NIS can be made to work with either biometric data such as fingerprints, or more traditional tracking mechanisms like bar codes. No doubt support for RFID, everyone’s favorite nascent Orwellian technology, can’t be far behind.

Reflections of a Business-Driven Life: Starting from the 2004 model year, a "Smart Key" option is available to the Toyota Prius and some Lexus models. The key fob uses an active RFID circuit which allow the car to acknowledge the key's presence within 3 feet of the sensor. (via Cosmos)
The Daily ACK: During boarding, the code on the pass is then checked against the actual fingerprint to identify the passenger...I don't understand the move towards biometrics, and I strenuously object to the use of RFID chips, especially when linked with biometrics. However, Lufthansa's approach here seems sound, if only we could be guaranteed that our encrypted fingerprints wouldn't be stored, cross-referenced and checked against any number of other databases. [Littlegreenfootballs.com] lgf: may the cannibals be cursed!: Arafat has already rejected the U.S. proposal to fire two officials: Intelligence Chief Tawfiq Tirawi, and Muhammad Dahlan's deputy in the Gaza forces, Rashid Abu Shabak. On the contrary: The latter will now head the forces, replacing Dahlan who will become a close Arafat aide.

Finally, the prophet Muhammad himself used Nonviolence, both in the early days of Islam as well as in the Hudaibiya Agreement.[6]

[Blogforamerica.com] Blog for America: It is pretty easy to win when the media gleefully glosses over every failure, when the CEO of a popular purveyor of black block voting machines promises you re-election, when so-called men of gawd tell their flock to vote for you or go straight to hell, when men like John McCain gladly give up their integrity to campaign for you in return for future political considerations, when more people watch a single episode of Survivor than watch all of the debates combined, when CNN and MSNBC try to outfox Fox News, when a majority of Americans are cowards (easily "terrorized") or least gullible enough to believe that Shrub will keep them safe, when even the State of the Union message can contain proven outright lies but you never have to fear impeachment, when abortion is considered killing but dropping bombs on women and children is considered good entertainment, when you can preach abstinence without ever having practiced it yourself, when you can order the FBI to monitor antiwar protests under the guise of homeland security, and when you pretent to be a war hero without ever leaving the safety of your country club.
[Antiwar.com] Electing to Abstain - by Nebojsa Malic: In his open letter to President Tadic and Prime Minister Kostunica, Patriarch Pavle asked why Serbs should vote when they aren't allowed to live, and taking part in the elections might actually hurt their security and human rights. When such questions were raised the last time around, the Church and the state nevertheless endorsed the vote;
