Global Security Watch > Planned Parenthood Perversity?
[The Disenchanted Forest] is something the Cotillionistas would do, take their references to PP fighting against the fishing expeditions of Steve Carter and Phil Kline, implicate sex-ed classes and PP as conduits to facilitate inapropriate sexual relationships between little girls and adult men, and ignore a pretty significant (and completely skeevesome) bit of information. According to the conservatives, PP exploits (maybe even encourages) these relationships without reporting them to ensure they can continue to turn a profit from performing abortions on these girls. In their minds, if clinics that perform abortions would just call the authorities and stop "pushing" abortions and/or contraceptives on these girls, the problem would decrease substantially.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[The Disenchanted Forest] PP, Judicial bypass and a response to the Princess too long for comments: I, too, am concerned by some risks teens take with pregnancy and termination (and know there are some who have died senselessly because neither they nor their bfs told their parents they'd aborted which left families unanaware to watch for signs & symptoms of septic abortion which can occur either after an elective abortion OR spontaneous abortion aka miscarriage). I don't claim to know how a judge makes the determination of which cases are ones in which a child legitimately cannot go to her parents because they are abusive or because she is sure they will force her into a decision to go to term when she feels she should be the final arbiter of the decision and can present a cogent case to make that decision vs a case in which the teen is having the standard "OMG, my folks would kill me, I can't tell them" reaction. I would certainly hope that in the case of the latter, the judge would refer the girl back to her parents to open the lines of communication so she could make a decision with their support (even though they may prefer she make a different decision).
[The Disenchanted Forest] Conservaqueen arguments against PP: fashionably flimsy: All states have laws on the books requiring health care providers to report known or suspected sexual abuse/molestation of a child to state authorities. Both AGs have gone fishing in the PP pond by demanding the facilities turn over records for all girls under the age of 14 who used thier services in order to determine if PP reported all of these girls as victims of sexual abuse.
[World O'Crap] World O'Crap: It was Life Dynamics' info that allegedly prompted AG Kline's investigation in Kansas. LD had women anonymously call Planned Parenthood offices and say that they were 13-year-olds pregnant by their 22-year-old boy friends -- and since the clinic didn't report this to the authorities, Life Dynamics claims that this proves that PP is in league with child rapists, and gave copies of their tapes to various AGs, including Kline. Kline won't say if this is what actually triggered his investigation and demand for the records of all women having late-term abortions in Kansas, but his efforts did start just two months after his efforts to hire a Life Dynamics lawyer fell through.
[STD's for Dummies] Mark Crutchers obsession His target: Planned Parenthood: Recently, Life Dynamics has focused its attention on the legal system and now advertises its litigation support services. The Life Dynamics Abortion Malpractice Program (ABMAL) is a legal support network with 700 lawyers, 500 expert witnesses, inside information about the abortion industry gathered by spies, radio, TV and print advertising, and 800 number crisis lines for women injured by abortions seeking legal help.
[Darleen's Place] This is just weird ...: Since 2002, anti-abortion-rights activists have been raising money to buy ultrasound equipment for hundreds of "pregnancy resource centers" out of a conviction, buttressed by statistics they have collected, that if you show a woman who is considering an abortion an ultrasound image of her fetus, it increases the chances that she'll decide not to have the abortion.Geez, Eric, and maintaining to women/girls who come in for abortions that it isn't really a baby but not more than a mass of tissue like a cyst or ingrown toenail is not propaganda?

[Worldmagblog.com] World Magazine Blog: Comment on Kansas AG seeks abortion records: I have a condition that has necessitated my visiting a physician. As a new patient, I was given a slew of forms to read and sign, the privacy one being two and a half pages long. I signed it, but read it later. It was clear to me, upon reading it, that my medical records; treatment, condition, tests, etc., while 'private', could be legally obtained by the police or a prosecutor, if there was an investigation or any suspicions of my being involved in, or part of, any criminal activities.
[Blogs.warwick.ac.uk] Kate's Blog, University of Warwick: (This contrasts markedly with "infanticide in nonhuman primates," which "is carried out primarily by migrant males who are unrelated to the infant or its parents and is a manifestation of reproductive competition among males." [Glenn Hausfater, "Infanticide: Comparative and Evolutionary Perspectives," Current Anthropology, 25: 4 (1984), p. 501.] It also serves as a reminder that gendercide may be implemented by those of the same gender.) In India, according to John-Thor Dahlburg, "many births take place in isolated villages, with only female friends and the midwife present. If a child dies, the women can always blame natural causes." (Dahlburg, "Where killing baby girls 'is no big sin'.") In the United States, "every year hundreds of women commit neonaticide [the killing of newborns] … Prosecutors sometimes don't prosecute; juries rarely convict; those found guilty almost never go to jail. Barbara Kirwin, a forensic psychologist, reports that in nearly 300 cases of women charged with neonaticide in the United States and Britain, no woman spent more than a night in jail." Much of "the leniency shown to neonaticidal mothers" reflects the fact that they are standardly "young, poor, unmarried and socially isolated," although it is notable that similar leniency is rarely extended to young, poor, and socially isolated male murderers.

[Scienceblog.com] Science Blog -- Girl Scouts/PPFA Connection Exposed: Omaha Girl ...: Since March of this year, STOPP has been conducting research to determine how many of the 315 Girl Scout councils in the United States have some sort of relationship with Planned Parenthood. To date, STOPP has been able to classify 108 of the councils. "On March 19," Sedlak revealed, "we received an e-mail from the Great Plains Council informing us that they had no relationship with Planned Parenthood. Obviously, that has now changed." As of today, 25 of the 108 councils STOPP has classified (23 percent) do have a relationship with Planned Parenthood.
